A meeting of the Scientific Council for Comparative Education at the Department of the Philosophy of Education and Theoretical Pedagogics of the Russian Academy of Education was held in the Institute for Strategy of Education Development of the Russian Academy of Education on May, 22. Chairperson of the Scientific Council, Director of the Institute, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Education, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Svetlana Veniaminovna Ivanova in her opening speech noted the importance of innovations in the field of education.
The report of Arthur K. Ellis Professor, Director of the Center for Global Curriculum Studies, Seattle Pacific University "The nature of innovation in education" was presented by the Head of the Center for Scientific Information and International Cooperation Irina Elkina. The purpose of this report is to identify, define, explicate, and document certain educational innovations, levels of innovation in education, the description of experience in Finland, successfully using some American innovations.
The meeting was continued by the presentations of Mikhail V. Klarin, the leading researcher of the Laboratory of General Didactics, Doctor of Education, and Mikhail L. Pustylnik, Deputy Director for Innovation, PhD (Chemistry).
